How to Clean Your Glass Rigs and Pipe
Every smoker loves when they get a new glass piece. It’s shiny, clean, and smokes really well every time. Until it’s covered in residue and smells of stinky bong water, which ruins the entire experience. It’s sometimes hard to find the time and energy to clean your small glass pipe or giant oil rig. Scrapping all the residue out is a hassle especially if you haven’t done it before. There are several house hold items that you can use to clean pieces but they usually take way more time. And you should never use standard cleaning supplies because you do not want to inhale even the slightest amount of those chemicals.
Here are some safe, easy, and affordable ways to clean your glass pieces:
Boil water and let it cool for 5- 10 minutes than pour the water is a large bowl or large resealable bag. Place your piece in into the bowl or bag and let it sit for 45-min to a hour. You can loosen the residue even more by scraping it out with a toothpick while letting it soak. After you’re finished, rinse out the piece with warm water and a majority of the residue should slide right out. This is the best method for cleaning small glass pipes or one hitters.
Tobacco Pipe Cleaners
A regular pipe cleaner can work as well, but tobacco pipe cleaners have a rougher texture to them in order to scrub the residue out better. Disposable pipe cleaners are best for pipes, bongs, and rigs because they are flexible and come in a variety of different sizes. However reusable pipe cleaners are also a great choice if you want to save money on restocking.
Speciality Glass Cleaners
Like mentioned earlier, DO NOT clean your pieces with house hold cleaning supplies (bleach, glass cleaner, wood cleaner, ect.). Even if you thoroughly rinsed it out there still can be left over spots of chemical that is either flammable or very dangerous to inhale. Thus why there are many glass cleaning products specifically formulated to cleaning sticky residue. Our favorite it the orange chronic cleaner. It cleans even the dirtiest glass pieces.
If you want to keep your piece super clean and sanitary, I would suggest cleaning after each use. But if you don’t have that kind of time once a week is fine as well. Take care of your glass pieces and they’ll take care of you.
