How do I know if my bong takes 18mm?

Grab a dime and hold it over your bong's joint opening. Does it drop in with room to spare? You've got 18mm. If it sits on top without dropping in, that's 14mm. Most larger glass bongs (beaker bases and thick scientific tubes especially) use 18mm joints. Smaller bongs and dab rigs tend to run 14mm.

What's the difference between 18mm and 14mm?

The number is the joint size. An 18mm bowl piece fits bongs with 18mm female joints, whereas a 14mm bowl fits 14mm. But beyond compatibility, you’ll notice that 18mm bowl pieces have a much wider opening that holds more herb per pack. It also lets more air through on each pull.

Can I add an ash catcher?

Yes, and you can get one in the same purchase here at Badass Glass! Our 18mm ash catchers sit between your bong's joint and the bowl piece. The inlet needs to match the bowl (18mm) and the outlet needs to match your bong's joint. The ash catcher drops right in without adapters or fuss if your whole setup is 18mm. You’ll keep your glass way cleaner and simplify cleaning!

Do these bowls come with screens?

The Wig Wag Slide in our collection has a built-in screen. The rest are open-bowl designs. You can drop a glass or metal screen into any standard bowl if you want the extra filtration, though. Most people find open bowls easier to clean between sessions since there's nothing extra to scrub out.

What should I look for in an 18mm bowl piece?

Thick glass at the joint since that's the stress point - it contacts your bong every time you pull the slide to clear a hit. Handles help, too, since the glass gets hot after back-to-back packs.
