What is a 14mm bowl piece used for?

It's the removable glass slide that holds your dry herb on a bong or water pipe. You pack it, light it, and pull the bowl out to clear the chamber. The 14mm measurement refers to the joint size. It needs to match the joint on your bong for a proper fit. It's also the connection point for add-ons like 14mm ash catchers, which sit between the bowl and downstem for extra filtration.

Is 14mm a standard bowl size?

It's the most common size on the market. The majority of small to mid-sized bongs ship with 14mm joints. Larger bongs typically take 18mm. Remove the bowl and hold a US dime over the opening if you're not sure what size your bong takes. If it sits on top without dropping in, it’s 14mm.

Are all bong bowls 14mm?

How do you know your bowl is 14mm vs 18mm?

Grab a US dime and hold it over the joint opening on your bong with the bowl removed. If the dime sits on top, it's 14mm. If it drops inside, you've got an 18mm. The dime measures about 17.9mm across, which puts it right between the two sizes.

What's the difference between 14mm bowls and 18mm bowl pieces?

Size is the only real difference. An 18mm bowl has a wider base and fits bongs with an 18mm joint. It can usually hold a bit more herb per pack, but there's nothing meaningful separating the two performance-wise. It all comes down to which joint size your bong has. Wrong size, wrong fit.

Can I use a 14mm bong bowl for concentrate, too?
